Unemployment insurance (ALV) provides an adequate replacement income and strives to quickly reintegrate unemployed people into the labor market. In certain situations, it can also help companies bridge difficult times and thus preserve jobs.
SECO, the Swiss labor market authority, is responsible for the Employment Services and Unemployment Insurance Act. The cantons, the regional employment centers (RAV), the logistics offices for labor market measures (LAM), and the unemployment insurance funds are responsible for its implementation. SECO combats unemployment in cooperation with its implementation partners. The ALV provides an adequate replacement income and strives to reintegrate unemployed persons into the labor market quickly and permanently. In addition, SECO represents Switzerland in international matters relating to job placement, temporary employment, and all issues concerning unemployment.
