Auf Anfrage von Wallis Tourismus wurde dieser Datensatz auf der Grundlage von Namen und Höhenangaben von SwissNames3D, Stand 2013 erarbeitet. Die Kriterien von der "International Climbing and Mountaineering Association (UIAA)" für die Eintragung waren die Berggipfel mit einer Höhe über 4000m.
